All The Cheats In Age Of Empires 4 And How To Use Them
Give your civilization the winning edge with these cheat codes for Age Of Empires 4.
Cheats and the AOE series, including Age of Empires IV, have gone hand in hand. As the games gained in popularity the types of things you could do with a couple of the right codes became pretty weird and wonderful. From the simple and useful like turning off the Fog of War, to the downright bizarre like the ED-209 droids from Robocop, trike riding babies with shotguns, nuclear ballista bolt-firing soldiers, building crushing monster trucks, and many more weird and ridiculously overpowered units.

Cheats in Age of Empires became so popular and notorious that fans eagerly awaited each installment purely to see what sort of oddities and helpful hidden codes the developers had stuck in. Even though it took a few months, Age of Empires IV has now joined the ranks of its predecessors with a list of unlockable features that's not too wild but contains some nice callbacks to classic cheats that make them fun to use and easy to type in repeatedly. For those looking for the new codes, here are all of the Age of Empire IVs cheats and how to use them.
It's pretty easy to start messing with cheat codes in AOE IV and thankfully you don't need to go digging around in the game's file system or download external mods from third-party sites to get it running as it's all available from the game whenever you want it. Unlike other games in the past where they were hard baked into the game, the cheat codes for Age of Empires IV came with an update nearly eight months after it launched. So now they're back and simpler than ever to play around with.
It was an odd choice to leave their inclusion so late, but with so many other moving parts to fix in the game first, it's understandable why it took a little while for them to turn up. Cheats arrived with the season three update, and to use them you'll need to launch a campaign or a skirmish match against the AI. Then go into the Game Mode window and check the box marked "Cheats". Then as the game starts just hit "Enter" to open the chat, type in the code in lowercase as we've shown below, and that's it. If it doesn't work, check your casing and your spacing. The codes can be used at any time and as often as you like, so there's no limit to the chaos that you can cause.
The cheat codes you can play around with are pretty varied. There are some old and suitably odd favorites like the laser-spewing Photon Trooper, instant build, god mode, and the ability to dump a massive bunch of resources in your civilizations bank account whenever you need them. Plus a few simple ones like removing the map, and killing animals or highlighted units, though no code for instant win even though there is one to immediately lose the game.
Some of these are also available in the campaign, whilst others are skirmish only. But we've marked down which cheat code works where to streamline things somewhat. All of these are case sensitive and to deactivate codes like invincibility, just enter the code again. Also, if you're spawning in a unit, check your primary Town Centre as they'll always appear directly next to it.
