Food trucks, blasting your favourite song, and showing off your racing skills: Five ways to help Give Me 5 this June

Officially launching its 2023 Give Me 5 fundraiser, the Canberra Hospital Foundation is calling for donations to improve the lives of sick kids in the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children (think: buying life-saving equipment, funding specialist programs and supplying new toys to put a smile on a small face).

And trust us when we say there are plenty of fun ways for the Canberra community to get involved. That's right—forget chucking your change in a bucket (note: there's nothing wrong with this and we actually encourage it—but more on that later), your favourite activities just got a philanthropic twist.

Here are five ways to help Give Me 5 and make a difference in the lives that need it most.

It sounds almost a little too easy—but for the music lovers out there it's honestly one of the most satisfying ways to make a change in the lives of little Canberrans. On Friday 9 June, MIX 106.3 are hosting a Pay for Play Day where you’ll have the chance to request whatever song you’d like to hear. Simply call up, donate to Give Me 5, and listen out for your song.

T-Swift on repeat anyone?

Forget a Macca's run for dinner, a special drive-through is opening for one afternoon only on Friday 16 June to bring you some of the best of Canberra's food vendors—and you better be excited.

On Friday 16 June, five iconic Canberra food vendors will partner with MIX106.3 to raise money for Give Me 5. Kicking off at 3 pm in the Regatta Point (Commonwealth Park West) car park, to enter the epic drive-through customers will be asked to donate a minimum of $5. Then all you need to do is stay in the car—the MIX team will do all the work for you!

Ever wanted to put your pedal to the metal and show off your racing skills? On Friday 23 June the flag will drop at Power Kart Raceway at the GM5 Grand Prix. With the chance to compete in a round of races to take home the winner's trophy—and walk away with some epic bragging rights.

Perfect for businesses or individuals (did someone say workplace team building day?), it only costs $1000 to buy a seat, and with MIX106.3 broadcasting live from the track it's sure to be a good time as they take donations for the songs you want to hear played on-air.

After the Grand Prix, the track will open back up to the public and Power Kart Raceway will donate $5 for every driver on their track till 6 pm. If you would like to register your business or yourself for a seat in the Grand Prix register your details here.

Last year signed jerseys, cheetah experiences at the National Zoo and Aquarium and the ultimate High Tea package at the Hyatt Hotel made up the prizes of the GM5 online auction—and this year should be just as good (if not better). And with all donations going directly to support kids in Centenary Hospital for Women and Children, you can walk (or scroll) away with a smile.

Make sure to keep checking the MIX106.3 website as the details of the online auction are announced or get in touch with the team if you’d like to make a donation of your own!

Forget your daily cup of coffee, what if we told you $5 can make an important difference to the most vulnerable members of the Canberra community? For the month of June, your donation to Give Me 5 (coffee-sized or bigger) will not only support sick kids in the hospital but their families, the healthcare team, and the wider community.

Donate online here or keep an eye on mix106.com.au for locations of collection buckets around the region.
