Even Replica Baby Bugatti Pedal Cars Cost A Small Fortune

The Baby Bugatti replica was made by American Models and has actual pedals instead of an electric motor

If you clicked on the link hoping to buy this Baby Bugatti pedal car for a reasonable amount, think again, as even replicas cost as much as a used car.

Made by American Models to echo the real ‘Baby Bugatti’, it's being auctioned off by RMSothebys, which estimates that it will fetch between $3,000 and $5,000 at the Palm Beach event in Florida, on March 20-21. On the other hand, while it may sound a lot for a replica pedal car, it's only a fraction of the cost of the real deal made by Bugatti back in the day and which is currently worth tens of thousands of dollars.

The full-scale replica has an aluminum body finished in Bugatti Blue. It sports the famous horseshoe grille, rides on highly detailed hand-polished aluminum GP wheels and boasts a beige leather interior, a dashboard gauge that stays true to the original and a switch for going forwards and backwards. Unlike many of today's so-called ‘pedal cars’, this one actually has pedals, so the young one will have to use their feet to move around, while holding on to that black four-spoke steering wheel. It is believed to have been built for electric conversion, though.

Now, if you want only the best for the little one and are prepared to spend a lot of money to see them happy, then the Baby II is perhaps more suitable. It was made in 500 examples and all of them were spoken for in no time, despite the starting price that equals to over $33,600 at today's exchange rates. That one has ‘Child’ and ‘Adult’ modes, which limit or increase the power of the electric motor and top speed, from 1 to 4 kW (1.3-5.4 HP) and between 12 and 28 mph (20-45 km/h). The driving range, with the optional 2.8 kWh battery (1.4 kWh standard) is 18+ miles (30 km).
