Argos' 16 favourite toys for Christmas 2022
The retailer's pick includes Lego, Barbie, PAW Patrol and more
If you're in need of some toy inspiration for Christmas 2022, then take a look at Argos' 'latest and greatest must-have toys'.
As families begin to search for top Christmas toys to treat the children in their lives this festive season, Argos' list will be of great use. Whether it's toys for two years olds or toys for ten year olds that you're after, the list includes a wide variety of toys for all ages and interests, with prices ranging from £10 to £160 - so there's something to suit everyone's budget.
This list features familiar favourites such as Lego, Pokemon and Barbie, picks from popular kids TV shows like Bluey, PAW Patrol and Gabby's Dollhouse, as well as plush toys, bath toys, and toys to help learning and development. They're bound to be popular this year, so make sure you get your hands on these toys in plenty of time for Christmas.
One for the big kids, this toy might have an age rating of 18+ but it's right at the start of Argos' favourite toys list. Perfect for Lego lovers, this intricate and detailed model is based on the legendary Transformers Autobot, and converts from robot to truck and back.
Accessories included are the ion blaster, Autobot Matrix of Leadership, an Energon axe, Energon cube and jetpack, and the lucky recipient can either relive the Transformers saga or use the collectible toy as a home decor piece, as the pack comes with a unique display plaque with Optimus Prime facts.
Designed for adult builders looking for their next immersive project, Lego's Optimus Prime includes 1508 pieces and has 19 points of articulation to make this the ultimate 2-in-1 build.
After the arrival of Bluey Season 3 this summer, we're sure the popular kids show will be popping up on many Christmas lists - and Argos seems to think so too. This exclusive pack is perfect for fans of the show, and includes a transforming School Playset and the Brisbane Adventure Bus.
The school playset opens out to three great play areas - a classroom, cozy cove and pillow fort - while the bus has enough seating to fit all six of the included figures: Bluey, Bingo, Chloe, Snickers, Coco and their teacher Calypso.
Another one for TV lovers, Gabby's Dollhouse has brought out this fantastic toy for Christmas 2022. The dollhouse stands at 61cm tall, and has four floors and seven different rooms to explore. Other features included are a Dollhouse Delivery tower, working Cat-A-Vator, a 8.9cm Gabby Girl collectible figure, Pandy Paws figure, sound effects, furniture for each room and many more accessories.
For extra playtime fun, you can purchase deluxe play sets to expand the already enormous dollhouse, such as the pillow cat bedroom and Cakey's kitchen room.
Something for the younger kids, this DJ Bouncin' Beats turns playtime into a party and is a great learning toy too. When little ones press the buttons, this interactive dance partner bounces to life with colourful lights, motorised spring action, and 75+ songs, sounds, and phrases that teach the alphabet, counting, colours, and more. With 3 Smart Stages levels and lots of exciting bouncing action, the DJ Bouncin' Beats toy helps keep little dancers wiggling, giggling and learning as they grow.
Team up with Chase for some action packed highway rescues in his rescue truck! This PAW Patrol themed toy features an exciting vehicle transformation - simply lift the truck cab roof to get Chase in and out of the driver's seat, then tilt the truck trailer forward and raise the roof to activate command centre mode, which converts the truck trailer into a 2-story command centre and reveals the rescue projectile launcher - making it the perfect rescue vehicle for high-speed highway rescue missions!
This set includes one vehicle, two projectiles and one Chase action figure - complete with trucker hat and backpack and dressed in uniform. Complete the set with other Big Truck Pups from the TV show, including the Mega Rubble Truck and the big rescue firetruck.
Make bathtime fun with your very own dinosaur to dunk. This toy has suction cup so can easily be attached to your bath or tiles, and the pouring cup and water wheel makes for an easy way to shower little heads too, while aiding development through some imaginative fun. Not only is this dino fun to play with, his clever spinning motion encourages hand-eye coordination too.
Gigi is one super cool giraffe - she's got soft, stretchy yellow hair and comes wearing a pair of party sunglasses, and if you press her foot you can watch her dance to three in built tunes. The full body movement makes her stretchy fur jiggle, providing sensory fun that will make your little one want to dance too.
Whether they're a seasoned Pokemon card collector or new to the hobby, this card tin is a great present for any fan of the franchise. Each pack includes one special card, four Pokemon TCG booster packs, a Tin to hold your TCG collection and one Pokemon TCG online code card.
There's various designs to choose from and collect, from the Tyranitar pictured to other classic characters such as Mew and Flareon. The game and brand of Pokemon has barely waned in popularity since it was first created in 1998, making this Christmas toy a safe bet for fans of card trading games.
It wouldn't be a Christmas toy list without a plush in here somewhere, and this one is Argos' choice. Made with high quality, ultra-soft materials, perfect to snuggle with while relaxing at home, watching a movie, or taking a long car or plane ride. Plus, there's a whole squad of Squishmallows to pick from and each has it's own personality. While Argos have gone with Brindall the Platypus - who loves hummus apparently - there's also sarcastic stingray Aziza, avid hiker Yara the yeti and many more to choose from.
Sink N Sand uses the popular kinetic sand to make a unique kids game that's a great addition to your child's collection of sensory fidget toys. On a wild jungle adventure, Sink 'n Sally, Sunk 'n Duncan, Slip 'n Sam & Fall n' Fran become trapped by the quicksand. Players need to roll the die to pull a stick and hope it doesn't mean the characters fall through the sand.
This toy includes one jungle unit (top, base and legs), 20 sticks, one moulding tray, four characters, one bag of kinetic sand, one 'redemption ruby' and one die.
Spiderman has become one of Marvel's most popular superheroes in the past few years, most recently with the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. For this toy, the iconic character has teamed up The Heroes of Goo Jit Zu - the squishiest, stretchiest and gooiest action heroes - for an action figure that can move like never before, thanks to a water bead filling.
Marvel fans can collect all of the 4.5 inch Heroes, including the Incredible Hulk, Captain America Sam Wilson, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Thor and Iron Man. Each Marvel Hero has their own unique goo filling with a different texture and feel.
It wouldn't be a Christmas toys list if Barbie wasn't on here somewhere, and this Cutie Reveal doll is Argos' favourite pick for Christmas 2022. As well as receiving a coveted Barbie doll, the unboxing experience of this toy is a gift in itself, with 10 surprises to be discovered.
Inside the box is a soft, plush husky puppy with tinsel fur and four surprise bags, but remove the husky costume and there's a Barbie doll with long, icy blue hair and twinkle-shine details. Open the surprise bags to find a cute skirt, headband, sponge-comb and mini pet husky puppy.
Kids can dress the doll with the included accessories, and reverse the costume top to find a super-soft fleece jacket with wintry print in shades of ice blue, while the head of the costume turns into a bed for the mini husky, too.
Other Barbie Cutie Reveals in the Snowflake Sparkle collection include the owl doll and the polar bear doll.
Everyone loves a Lego/franchise crossover, and this is the first Lego Harry Potter set to feature the Ministry of Magic. This toy is filled with famous scenes and characters, including Dolores Umbridge and Arthur Weasley's offices, the Hall of Prophecy and the Court Room. There's also 12 minifigures - Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Albert Runcorn, Mafalda Hopkirk, Reg & Mary Cattermole and Harry Potter himself to name but a few, and all come with wands.
The lucky recipient can transform the way Harry, Ron and Hermione look with Polyjuice potion - the three minifigures that transform with a turn of the head and a new hair piece - and re-enact moments from the Harry Potter franchise with detailed accessories such as a red phone box, stacks of the Daily Prophet newspaper, a Patronus cat and a Slytherin locket Horcrux.
The Hot Wheels Action Spiral Speed Crash Track Set delivers big-time thrills with a 29-inch-tall track, three crash zones and a motorized booster that keeps the car moving. Drive the included Hot Wheels vehicle up to the booster and watch it continuously whip down the spiral. To increase the challenge, add additional cars until there's an inevitable wipe-out in one of the crash zones.
By purchasing additional cars that are sold separately, kids can add more vehicles to up the suspense and create an epic collision in one of three crash zones - this set can store up to 6 cars atop the battery box and booster.
Another Lego/movie crossover, this 586 piece set is the first-ever LEGO brick version of the AT-ST from the Battle of Hoth. The toy walker features a hatch accessible cockpit, opening roof, wheel-operated rotating head, 2 spring-loaded shooters & posable legs, and measures over 10.5 in. (26 cm) high, 6 in. (16 cm) long and 5 in. (13 cm) wide.
The rest of the set includes three Lego Star Wars minifigures: Chewbacca with snow decoration, Hoth AT-ST Pilot and Hoth Rebel Trooper - each with weapons - and there's also an Imperial Probe Droid Lego figure to recreate epic Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back scenes.
The Ranger PD-5 blaster is easy to use so you can jump into action fast! Load the barrels, pump the priming slide backwards and forwards, and pull the trigger to launch.
Unleash one dart at a time from this pump-action blaster, which includes 10 Nerf Elite foam darts - giving you five darts to load into the blaster and five more darts for reloads. You can store those five additional darts in the blaster's onboard dart storage to keep them nearby for quick reloading.
