Rockin’ Roosevelt concert to raise funds for Roosevelt Park

New Ken/Arnold Social in the Park will sponsor the annual Rockin’ Roosevelt benefit concert from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Roosevelt Park in Arnold. Gates open at 11:30 a.m.

Bands scheduled to appear are: Risen to Save, Sunday Complex, Up the River Band, Noble Hops, Miss Freddye's Blues Band, the Rust Project, Felon, Low Life Drifters, Curtis & the Shakerz, Big House Pete and Elias Khouri. There will be food vendors and a 50/50 raffle.

Admission is $5 per person. Rain or shine. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Gates will be open on Rankin and Drey streets. All proceeds will benefit the fund to keep Roosevelt Park open during the summer. Visit New Ken Arnold Social in the Park on Facebook for band set times.

Cheswick Strawberry festival planned Sunday

The Cheswick Strawberry Festival will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the 1300-1400 blocks of Spruce Street near the firehall.

There will be food and craft vendors, strawberry shortcake, a petting zoo, barrel train rides and music. The event is sponsored by the borough recreation board. For details, email [email protected].

Tarentum Elks and A-K Heritage Museum to host Flag Day program

The Allegheny-Kiski Valley Historical Society will host a ceremony in honor of Flag Day at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Heritage Museum and History Center, 224 E. Seventh Ave., Tarentum.

Tarentum Elks and the society have partnered to sponsor the event at the museum flagpole. Members of law enforcement, firefighters and first responders are encouraged to participate.

Light refreshments will be served afterward at the Elks lodge, located behind the museum.

Annual summer concert series to begin at Hartwood Acres

Chris Jamison and Grace Elliott will kick off the free 2023 Summer Concert series Sunday at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater, 4070 Middle Road, Indiana Township.

Food trucks, Bella Terra Vineyards and Hop Farm Brewing Co. craft beer will be on-site starting at 6 p.m. Concerts take place rain or shine at open-air amphitheaters with no covered seating.

Today: Alle-Kiski Day Quilters and Sewers will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Allegheny Township municipal building, 136 Community Building Road. Bring your project. No dues or fees. Saturday: A free movie night will be at dusk in Owens Grove. There will be free popcorn and drinks and the featured film will be, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," rated PG. Sponsored by Apollo Memorial Library and the Apollo Events Committee.

Saturday: St. James Parish will celebrate Mass at 4:30 p.m. on the lawn to the left of the church, 109 Owens View Ave. Bring a folding chair or blanket. There is no shade in this area, so wear sunscreen or bring an umbrella. Ice cream sandwiches will be served afterward. In case of inclement weather, Mass will be celebrated inside the church.

Sunday: Roaring Run Watershed Association will host a tree identification walk at 2 p.m. beginning at the association main trailhead at the end of Canal Street. Presenters will include Tom Iseman, Tim Troup and Mary Jane Busch.

Arnold

Saturday: Homemade doughnuts will be sold from 6 to 10 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1721 Victoria Ave. Cost: $8 per dozen. Orders: 724-335-0101.

Saturday: Arnold United Methodist Church, 1801 Leishman Ave., will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the church. Menu: choice of plain, blueberry, pecan and chocolate chip pancakes or French toast, sausage and drink. Dine in or takeout. Cost: $9; 12 and younger, $7. Details: 724-339-2377.

Saturday: A pop-up pierogi sale will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. or until sold out at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Church, 1610 Kenneth Ave. Cost: $12, for a dozen frozen pierogi. No advance orders will be accepted.

East Vandergrift

Saturday and Sunday: A rummage sale will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and noon to 1 p.m. Sunday in the basement of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 420 McKinley Ave. Easter items will be half off.

June 24: Alle-Kiski Pickleball will sponsor doubles pickleball tournament to raise funds for new courts at 9 a.m. at the basketball area in Freeport Community Park. Rain date: July 1. Cost: $100 per team. Pool play will be random and division play will be based on the results of pool play. All teams will play at least seven games if all slots are filled. Harrison

Today: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

June 16: St. Joseph High School is selling tickets for a super raffle. The grand prize winner will receive $20,000 and three runners-up receive $1,000 each. Only 500 tickets will be sold. June 17: Burtner House Restoration Society is looking for volunteers to work before, during and after the annual strawberry festival set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the homestead, Burtner Road. Saturday: Kiski Township Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a motorcycle show from 1 to 5 p.m. at the firehall, 1037 Route 56. Registration will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Awards will be given for first and second place in the following categories: custom, trike/3-wheeler, bobber/chopper, bagger, softtail, best in show and open. Kittanning

Saturday and Sunday: Armstrong County Historical Museum and Genealogical Society will present its fourth annual, "Engines at the Museum" event from noon to 4 p.m. at the museum, 300 N. McKean St. There will be free demonstrations of antique engines and exhibits. Free parking is available on Vine and North McKean streets and behind the museum via the North Grant Avenue entrance.

Leechburg

Today: Amy Halter from Balance and Grow g Counseling Center will give a free talk about chore charts, schedules and screen time from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Goat Donuts, 158 Market St.

June 10: Church of God is accepting space reservations for its parking lot treasures sale set for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church parking lot, 273 Chester Drive. This is the sale from May 20 that was rained out. Details: 724-335-4422 or [email protected].
