MAJOR LEISURE UPGRADES COULD BE ON THE HORIZON AT THORNESS BAY

Plans have been put forward by Parkdean Resorts to transform the leisure facilities at Thorness Bay on the outskirts of Cowes including creating new play areas, a golf course, zip wire and a high-ropes course.

Located in between Porchfield and Cowes, Thorness Bay Holiday Park is one of the most popular holiday sites on the Isle of Wight and now it has emerged that parent company Parkdean Resorts are looking to majorly upgrade the leisure facilities at the site.

It is hoped that – should plans be approved – various leisure facilities will be installed including; a kart & bike hire centre, woof park, bungee trampolines, laser quest course, adventure and junior play park, brand new muga, zip wire and high ropes and arts and crafts facilities.

The application does not include additional guest holiday accommodation and all proposed changes will take place within the grounds of the existing holiday park.

The proposed MUGA is enclosed by 3500mm high ball stop fence and the High Ropes/Zipline, Adventure Golf, Pedal Pod, Adventure & Toddler Play, and Activity Shelter will be enclosed by 1200mm high bow top metal railings.

It is unclear as to whether the other Parkdean Resorts facilities on the Island namely Nodes Point in St Helens and Landguard and Lower Hyde in Shanklin will be given the same investment if plans are approved.

No timeframe has been given in either the application or supporting documentation.

Anyone wishing to view the plans can do so on the Isle of Wight Council's Planning Portal using application number 23/00810/FUL. Comments can be submitted until 30th June.

As with all holiday camps that include caravans etc there always comes certain people that should be nowhere near under age children!! Why they come out of prison and put in these places is beyond all common sense ..
