Bike Riding ON DOWNTOWN SIDEWALKS Prohibited by Ordinance
An ordinance on bicycles, skateboards, and other devices was approved by the City Council in November of 2009.
Please educate your kids, grandchildren and neighborhood kids of the rules for riding skateboards and bicycles in the city limits. The lack of attention to shoppers coming out of stores, elderly walking on sidewalks, and cars backing out of parking spaces has been noted by this reporter.
These rules were put in place to keep the general public and kids safe and free from harm. There are particular sidewalks mentioned in the ordinance below and attached:
ARTICLE 12.06 - SKATEBOARDS, BICYCLES AND SIMILAR DEVICES
§ 12.06.001. Prohibited within defined districts.
(d) Exceptions.
§ 12.06.002. Penalty.
Any person found guilty of violating any section of this article shall be fined in accordance with the general penalty provision set forth in section 1.01.009 of this code. (Ordinance 1108 adopted 11/19/09)
