Having a baby is never easy on the wallet, so finding ways to save on all the things you’ll need is helpful. But whether you’re a new parent or a seasoned pro, having a little one often leaves you with little time to comparison shop.

So Consumer Reports has done some legwork to get you started. We’ve combed through all the different products for children that we’ve tested, from strollers and high chairs to baby monitors and safety gates, to pinpoint the ones that scored well in our lab and offer some serious savings.

Baby Jogger City Bistro High Chair

The Baby Jogger City Bistro performs exceptionally well in our safety tests and is very easy to use, but like some of the other models in our tests, it could be easier to clean. It weighs 18 pounds, folds up for storage, and has a machine-washable seat pad, a food tray you can remove with one hand, and adjustable seat height. But the chair can't recline, doesn't feature wheels or casters, and doesn't convert into a booster seat or toddler chair.

Why it's a good deal: This sale price is the lowest we’ve seen in months, though you’re really only saving about $20 compared with the usual price, not $100 as it appears on Amazon.

Graco Milestone

The Graco Milestone covers the full range of use while being less bulky and heavy than many other all-in-one models. We were successful in getting secure installations in rear- and forward-facing directions. It provided excellent belt fit in our test vehicles when used in booster mode. An impressive seat, the Milestone scores well for its performance in our challenging crash test.

Why it's a good deal: This is a significant discount that's well worth a look.

Thule Urban Glide 2

The Thule Urban Glide 2 is a sturdy, well-built jogging stroller. The adjustable handle is comfortable, and the hand brake gives you more control when running. The seat doesn't recline to a nearly flat position, so it's not supportive enough for use with a baby 6 months old or younger unless you snap an infant car seat into the stroller. (You shouldn't jog with an infant in the car seat, though. Wait until your child is old enough to sit upright safely while you jog.) This stroller is large and weighs 25 pounds, but it's exceptionally easy to maneuver. It stands upright on its own when collapsed.

Why it's a good deal: This 20 percent price drop marks the first time this has gone on sale this year.

Evenflo Pivot Xplore All-Terrain Stroller Wagon

Our testers call the Evenflo Pivot Xplore stroller wagon "best for littles." This is a very compact, foldable wagon, and it not only looks like a stroller but also operates the most like a stroller in terms of folding, storing, carrying, and driving. The passenger area is quite small, with two petite seats and a small footwell in between, and it sits pretty low to the ground, with relatively low "walls" of the wagon around it. It's best suited for small children under 39 inches tall. There's plenty of room for an adult to walk behind it.

Why it's a good deal: You’re saving nearly $100 compared with the list price.

Baby Trend Expedition 2-in-1 Stroller Wagon

This stroller wagon looks cool, is easy to steer, and has all the accessories to keep grown-ups and kids happy. Instead of folding for storage in the middle, like the other products we checked out, this stroller wagon collapses and flattens, which means you don't have to remove the snack tray or even the shade in order to put it away. It also comes with a car-seat adapter with secure straps for safely attaching an infant car seat.

Why it's a good deal: Even though $20 isn't the steepest discount, we really liked this wagon, and it's selling for as much as $299.99 elsewhere.

Cumbor Auto Close Safety Baby Gate

Among the top-rated baby safety gates in our tests, this one is made of steel and can be pressure-mounted or installed more securely using optional round bracket hardware. Among other pluses, it offers easy one-handed operation and a 180-degree swing. It's very easy to install and received top scores for security as well.

Why it's a good deal: Taking nearly $50 off a trusty model like this makes it worth considering.

North States Toddleroo 3-In-1 Arched Decor Metal Superyard

This usually pricey North States Toddleroo metal baby safety gate can also be used as a freestanding playpen. It has a convenient self-closing/hold-open door feature. But patience is required; it can be more difficult than some other gates to install, earning only a middling score in that area.

Why it's a good deal: A discount like this may be too good to pass up if this is the model on your shopping list. This price is the best we’ve seen in months.

Eufy Spaceview

The Eufy Spaceview comes with its own display and handles the video feed locally, so it doesn't have the privacy and security issues of internet-connected models. Our testers reported that the screen is bright, sharp, and relatively large, and they found it to be the easiest monitor to use.

Why it's a good deal: This matches the best price we’ve seen this year.

Nanit Pro Camera

The Nanit Pro lacks its own display. Instead, it transmits video and audio through the company's servers to an app on your smartphone. It's the only one of the models with this configuration to earn a CR recommendation. But it still falls short of the best wireless security cameras in privacy and security.

Why it's a good deal: This is $5 less than the best price we’ve seen this year.

A humidifier usually isn't necessary for your baby's health. But you may still want one for comfort—for instance, to make your baby's heated room feel less dry.

Vornado Huey

With the Vornado Huey, keeping a small room adequately moist is no problem: It gets our top score for output. As an evaporative model, it creates moisture by using a fan to blow air over a wet wick, so it's not as quiet as some models. (Plus, the wick has to be replaced regularly.) There's no automatic shutoff when the water is used up, but an indicator signals an empty tank.

Why it's a good deal: This matches the best price we’ve seen for this model.

Crane Owl

On just about every measure, including moisture output and noise, the Crane Owl humidifier soars. It's convenient to use, though not being able to get a hand into the tank for cleaning is a drawback. The 250-square-foot claimed coverage area is on the high end for a small-room model. Other animal figures in this Crane series are Wyatt the Fox, Puffington the Penguin, Misty the Unicorn, Sidney the Sheep, the Crane Train, Hello Kitty, Freddy the Frog, Mya the Monkey, Violet the Hippo, and Elliot the Elephant. They all perform similarly and may be on sale for similar prices.

Why it's a good deal: A 25 percent discount isn't bad.
